I was in the Society of Creative Anachronism for six months, but got
out because I didn't care for the politics (OK, there is politics in
science fiction fandom, but at least we don't bash each other with
sticks for the right to chair a convention) and I didn't feel there
was sufficient room for creativity (they wouldn't let me have a
persona who was a wizard -- the nerve). Give me a break, I was in
high school.
